And the Moral of the Local Car Wash Story is.....Well, let's start at the beginning. Every year around the Fourth of July and right after Thanksgiving I open my home and have a client, friend, neighbor, family party. One has the Town of Chesapeake Beach Fireworks as a main event and the other has a Wreath Making Theme as the focus. Like clockwork, this is my agenda. In addition, Memorial Day Weekend is my favorite weekend of the year, so count that one in, too. What I do those three times is Clean. As in really clean. If it is not glued, nailed and screwed to the floor, it is cleaned. That means the Porch, the Garage, the House, the Dog and then me. It looks drop dead gorgeous around here after wards. And Riley Rover looks downright handsome.
So it was that time of year. It takes about two weeks. This year I discovered Riley Rover dances with joy when the hose intended for the porch hits him instead. So I have had this soaking wet but sparkling clean Golden. Anyway, the list was complete. Almost. I needed to take the Jeep and my original real estate car, yep, my 1986 5th Avenue, OLD BLUE, through the local Town of Chesapeake Beach car wash.
It is a cute as can be Faststop that has Chesapeake Bay breezes and beautiful views and discounts on Thursdays. So I trucked over to run the Jeep through first and then I went back to get Old Blue and run her through, too. But when I got back home I realized something was wrong. The brush that did the top and hood had not worked. So, I took the Jeep back and they gave me a refund so through the car wash I went again. It looked great . Then I got Old Blue out and ran back to the Car wash. Now the sunroof had not worked in years. This did not bother me because I am one year away from having an historic vehicle. Plus, Old Blue has a way of looking very pretty when the Jeep is in the shop or will not start.
So did I mention the sunroof had not worked in years? Yep.
Well, have you ever noticed that sometimes it is better to go with the flow? As in not push things? As in maybe crummy things happen for good reasons? Uh huh. Yep, I know that.
So, me being me, and goal driven, and at the end of the cleaning overhaul...I do what is natural after the house, porch, garage, dog, Jeep, and everything else at Mosquito Gulch is CLEAN...I insist on taking Old Blue through the car wash AGAIN. I was intent on celebrating with some ice cream sandwiches from Rolands after wards. In other words, despite the 30 pound weight loss after banning processed foods for a year, I was going to big time blow it.
That was before. Before what? Before my worst car wash fear was realized. Well, the water started coming through the sunroof. You know, the one that had not opened in years. But, let's be grateful. The water did not pour on to the car. Or into my purse with all my electronics which would have then all become paper weights. Or onto my floor or onto the seats. Nope, the water just pured on me. I mean POURED. So, somehow getting the refund for the fourth trip thru the car wash became not so important. And blowing the diet to get the ice cream sandwiches..nope, saved those calories,too.

P.S. In case inquiring minds want to know. So, did I go back for the refund on the additional car wash for OLD Blue? You don't really think I walked in there soaking wet to make a complete fool of myself and ask do you? I have the only $24.00 car wash in town and the best diet habits around. Oh, and my sunroof? It works again, most definitely.
But for the Wreath Party in December, you bet I am taking an Umbrella with me when I go through the local Chesapeake Beach car wash.
