I saw that question posted on a Facebook Tech Forum.
BOTH! Do what it takes to get both!
The iPAD cannot do everything YET.
But somewhere between Evernote and the NEW Top Producer 8i Mobile ( another cool upgrade this month!) and Skitch and Email and Internet and Docusign and Go to Meeting and Skype and all my Kindle Dummies books on every tech subject available, well, it is like a Saw and Hammer to this Real Estate "Carpenter."
Not to mention I am on the iPad for Real Estate Business way, way more than the Laptop these days.
So, take the show on the road and find a way to load both in your Realtor Toolbox. And put on your running sneakers and socks because the iPad knocks it out of the Cool Tool Realtor Park.
