Great Customer Service in the Age of Social Media...Kudos to Calendars.com. You start to think about this great customer service recognition a lot with the upsurge of Social Media. How easy it is to give a great referral that is well deserved. How easy it is to mention poor service. How easy it is for it all to go viral. How important treating the customer correctly remains always no matter whether you are on the receiving end or the giving end. One of my favorite quotes is something I saw in Ann Landers many years ago. "Character is what you are willing to do when all the lights are turned off and noone is there to give you applause."
I want to give credit to www.Calendars.com . I ordered several calenders at Christmas through them and their sister store www.DogBreedStore.com. They sent me a 50% off email recently so I ordered some more dog calendars and one I wanted by Mary Englebrite. One of the calendars came in damaged. I called and they immediately arranged today to ship me a new one. Pam Younger cheerfully said, "Merry Christmas" when I asked how to make return arranagements. In otherwords, she said keep it and we'll make it right for you. What a pleasant surprise to not have to go through the rigamarole or returning it at the Post Office. Contrast that to a big Pet Supply Store in Prince Frederick MD. I went at Christmas to get a nail clipping treatment for Riley Rover. He was such a handful that the technicians told me that he was unwelcome back and that they would not refund the ten dollars even though they did not complete the procedure. My emails and attempts to talk to a manager got me nowhere. I have been driving an hour to Annapolis to go to a different store where we are welcome to get Riley Rover's stuff. Then ten dollars will become many thousands in my lifetime from just being dissatisfied with their poor customer service policy.
