Humpty Dumpty the tree came down...but not on my house!
I got a frantic call a week or so ago from my Yard man, Gordon Bryant, Gordon's Lawn Service.
He has cut my grass and kept the yard sticks and limb free for a few decades without missing once. ONCE!
Never seen him lose his cool.
So when he called upset I knew to stop what I was doing and LISTEN.
I have had major trees drop this Spring.
But there was one right by my house that was tall enough you could not quite focus on where it ended.
An old time , been there forever kind of tree...leaning right toward me.
The whole bottom was not only dead but hollow. And it was aimed right at my porch on the downward fall.
It was strategically located so I did not notice it. Nor did he.
Anyway, a few days later he and his family were here taking it DOWN so that like a perfect BALLET, it fell away from my house and not on it. I would have had to move out a long time if it hit my house. Not to mention the limbs would have wiped out my vehicles.
So it was interesting to watch the dead tree removal system.
There was really an order and a strategy to it. There was more prep time than DO IT time. It was a work of art how they safely accomplished this.
WHEW! The THUD was right where it was planned and the house shook but was not SHOT from the tree fall.
Okay, y'all, all is safe again and the wind is now a welcome respite from the Heat Wave in this Southern Maryland area.
