More Lessons from my Spring Computer Malfunction..Well, it starts with Carbonite has come through with good phone support plus great new remote access for all the data on your computer. If you need a word or excel file while on vacation or at home, just log into Carbonite.com and retrieve your file with your password, download, and you are ready to roll. No more monthly "Go to my PC" type fees. Just a yearly $60 for backup and data retrieval and good phone support during data loss hysteria. Yes, "G", just do it.
More Lessons from my Spring Computer Malfunction...Keep your desktop data light. Have a Plan C. I always blow up Plan A, blow past Plan B, and end up on Plan C anyway. This is in real estate, too. I think that is why my name begins with "C" as in Plan C. While my main laptop was in a state of disaster and I am rolling thru good tech reps like Starbucks coffee, I have been able to still do work on my spare laptops. I always load them up with a flash drive and hit my top fave 50 docs, my Agent Office Contacts, and my Quickbooks data. But not as often as I now will do. It came to my complete surprise that Agent Office was not backed up on Carbonite. So thank goodness I had a Plan B. I also learned my laptops were not set up properly for a system restore. I also learned when you mess with the registry have it backed up first. I also learned that Carbonite, Verizon, RE/MAX 100 (Sheila B), MAR Tech Help, and Microsoft have fantastic Tech Help. I was disappointed in a few so I will not mention them because all of these listed were fantastic.
More Lessons from my Spring Computer Malfunction...Plan C as in Cheryl. Backup all kinds of ways and means. Your computer croaks at the worst possible moment. It is never quite the same again. And even with the phones humming and taxes to do and normal projects in the hopper that have to be completed, somehow you will work it all out. It is just a major challenge. I am marking Memorial Day Weekend off on my Palm when it synchs again. I am going to read a book, walk the dog, and throw covers over all the laptops. I am going to sit on the beach with my folks and take a deep breath. I made it thru another computer crisis. Plan C works for me.
