Okay since we match people with homes, have you noticed it gets easy to match people with people? Okay, maybe Spring was in the air. Or maybe I have done a little too much Quickbooks lately. Or maybe I was just having a little fun selling Real Estate yesterday. I was showing a home in Annapolis MD and we were about the leave and the neighbor was on the deck. We asked if we could chat and ask questions about the neighborhood because he seemed friendly and approachable and he was standing right by us on the way out the door.
Okay since we match people with homes, have you noticed it gets easy to match people with people? So that's when the fun started. My client was asking him sincere real estate related questions and I chimed in with a few and it was a very upbeat, informative chat. Then all of a sudden I started really listening and observing him. Oh, let me backtrack. I have a friend from Boston who would like to meet the right fella. I sold her a place right up the road. And me being the Realtor, I qualified the criteria for her quest. The criteria for the fella this time because I already had found her the place. In otherwords, describe the fella. What qualities and interests does he have so I can picture her HIM because I meet so many people selling houses. Never had I crossed paths with her HIM. Just like in the "Secret," I could see what she described but I had never encountered her HIM. Not even close. Not once.

This was her HIM. Down to the Boston Baseball cap and the line of work and the great sense of humor they shared and the same line of conversation. Down to the interests and the description and right down to the beach persona. So what does any Realtor do? Close the deal. I went to my cell, after qualifying that he was single of course, dialed my friend , handed him my cell, and said ," Here, you two need to set up a date. " Meanwhile, everyone was laughing and having fun. He got shy, though, so they exhanged phones thru us. As we pulled off, he walked out and held up his cell and said, "She's got me on Voice Mail already." We ROARED. I don't think there's a date yet, and don't know if there will be, but it was great fun on a Spring day in the Spring sun after all the snow in Southern Maryland. Boy, would those two have a blast together. She's offerered to meet him for a "Sam Adams" at the local pub .
Anyway back to selling houses. The funny thing is how often I have done this before and how often it has worked. Oh well, same concepts...qualify, overcome objections, and close. Use a little bit of DISC in assessing personalities. And have some fun with it. This is a cool job..we meet some of the greatest people. No, I am not entering the matchmaking service, but I will help you find just the right home for you. Rats, I hope they meet. They would be a blast together.
