Realtor Lessons from the NEW Jerry Weintraub Kindle Book...I saw the Larry King interview with Jerry Weintraub the other night and was kind of amused and fascinated by what he said. Among other things, he managed Elvis and Sinatra but the acccomplishment list goes on and on from there. He is the Oceans Eleven Producer. He also did the Karate Kid movies. I knew there would be some business lessons in his book that sounded valuable, so I downloaded it to my Kindle as a Holiday treat. I liked in the interview how he talked about his Dad's Jewelry business. He took a worthless stone and at each destination while selling jewelry he would have Brinks deliver and pick up this worthless stone. Meanwhile, he sold the other jewelry. At the end, according to the book, the stone, worthless still, sort of, is at the Smithsonian. The main point I got out of the interview was to stage an EVENT. That it is all about presentation and relationships. That this man faked it until he made it at every turn. He visualized success and then got there, period. It was fascinating. It is insightful into the Realtor world also.
Realtor Lessons from the NEW Jerry Weintraub Kindle Book..This is the book I keep picking up between blog posts and projects. It never stops to fascinate. He worked with Elvis and Sinatra and John Denver and Dean Martin and that's just the beginning. That enough is alone to want to glimpse into his thinking. He had some lucky junctions in his life but maybe luck is the junction of hard work and opportunity. He was not afraid to take risks. When everything changes, change, too, was a point that made me think of Social Networking and Realtors. Is it a good read? I can hardly put the Kindle down.
He mentions how he got bamboozled when he put his feet in the concrete at the noted Chinese restaurant. His actor friends would not do it unless he did. He was unaware they came prepared with much larger shoes. He sounds like a lot of fun and THE get things done kind of person.
The ending of the book summarized his main points. There were key moments in his life when he made the right choices. Honesty was the only choice and it served him well at critical junctions. Following his true dream was valuable. Listening was important. Acceptance of change was important. Relationships have been really, really important. His third act includes lots of friendships where he now is the old timer. He has lived a life rich with friendships.
