What is Referral Above and Beyond? I had a third referral from an agent. The difference this time was that the listing expectations of the Seller were 100K minimum over the realistic price range in this market for the unusual floor plan and a difficult setting. I knew this when I made the first visit.
I lived up to my commitment. I went a week later as I promised. I fully anticipated their rage. I needed to be the extension of the agent who had been so good to me over the years. I also needed to be the agent who finally told and could substantiate the truth if allowed to do so. It was a miserable experience. I did the right thing. I gave the message no matter how angrily received. I did what I said I would do. I gave the agent's referral the information someone needed to finally truthfully give them after many failed previous listing attempts.
I gave up six hours in one of the busiest weeks of my year this year. I am at peace with it except I wish I had left much sooner because it was a very, very hostile reception. I have no doubt in my pricing and preparation plan. Noone said this job was easy. Sometimes you just have to give back, like it or not. Sometimes you have a job to do. What is Referral Above and Beyond? Doing just that. Going above and beyond.
