One of my favorite things to do on my day off is to catch up on reading the paper. I saw an interesting article in the Annapolis MD paper, The Capital, about Twitter and Regional Dialects. This is interesting to think about.
When I say cool in Southern Maryland, the Northern CA folks say koo and the Southern CA folks say or type coo.
When you look forward to suttin special in NY, you would say something special in Southern Maryland. We would say when are you all coming over? But from PA you would say yinz which I have never even heard before and MD is a border state.
In Southern MD , we would say u instead of typing you, but our New York Neighbors might say youu. So much for brevity on Twitter.
So the question is, will these regional tendencies stay regional or spread? What do YOU ALL think? It's a Koo suttin to think about on a Sunday afternoon.
