How to Import your past Real Estate SALES and LISTINGS into Zillow?
I heard about this via Ross Hair at REM so I checked it out this week.
I called my Zillow Rep, Travis Roberts, or Travisr@zillow.com.
I was referred to him by our very own Active Rain Blogger Extraordinaire, Margaret Rome.
He promptly emailed back these instructions:
Dear Cheryl,
Introducing: Past Sales on Your Zillow Profile
Giving consumers the ability to see past transactions on both the buy and sell side can be an important consideration in the agent selection process. It's important that you as the agent of record have the ability to add these past sales to your Zillow profile.
Get Started!
It's easy to add past sales to your profile. Just log into Zillow, visit "Agent Hub" and under "Profile," go to the "Past Sales " tab. All editing is done on this page. In some cases, you will also receive an email from Zillow asking you to confirm additional past listing sale information.
We're Here to Help You!
Much like getting reviews, we believe posting past sales is a key to your success as a Premier Agent. Watch this video to get started or simply call your account manager with any questions.
Regards,
Troy

What I then learned?
They are happy to enter your past sales data for you for a limited time. They need the following fields:
- Property Address (including ZIP)
- Sold Date
- Sale Price
- Who you represented (Seller, Buyer or Both)
If you have an Excel spreadsheet or other document, email it to pastsalesuploads@zillow.com. If it's a Google spreadsheet, just send us an email at that same address and they'll get back in touch with you to arrange access.
OR, in Matrix in the DC Area, go to Cross Property Section to key up your own ID number as a Listing Agent then also the ID as a Buyer's Agent. Directly send these separate two lists to pastsalesuploads@zillow.com . I sent them as an email list and also as a Word Document but did not see a CSV option. You will then receive an email, upon submission, that says it takes a few weeks to process because of all the requests.
I got most of these directions off the Zillow site. It just took a few emails and a little bit of website exploration to figure it all out! Hope this GOLDEN RESULTS Summary speeds up the research for you!

Cheryl- I don't use any of this since I'm not an agent but it sounds like something the members here will want to bookmark.
Great post Cheryl ... makes it easy to import your past sales and let Zillow visitors know you're a serious profession;.
Cheryl - This is great information on how to import past real estate sales and listing into Zillow.
Hi Cheryl - I actually keep mine up to date, no surprise to you, but now I'm curious about what else you might be doing with Zillow
Hi Cheryl, It was so nice to see you today. I've updated my Zillow profile with my past sales and in fact it's helped sellers decide to use my services because they see I am active in the business and have experience.
Thanks! Cheryl Ritchie
Thanks for sharing this helpful information. Have a great week!
I agree with Kathy....very helpful information for the real estate agents!
Thank you for the info.
That is going to be added to my to do list. I only recently added my sales to Trulia. I guess it is time to add it to Zillow. I guess if one can't beat them...them one is forced to join them.
I read something else about importing pictures into Trulia today. Good information.
The post is a good read, just not liking the subject matter. I stay away from Zillow.
Cheryl, it may be some time before I'd feel comfortable sharing that information with anyone other than customers. I do not look at Zillow as being one of them.
I will re-blog this post today. Have an outstanding week!
Why would I want to help Z to get more accurate Zestimates with our solds? We would much rather put them on Realbird- much more agent centric :) JMHO
I like to add mine, although I am having a problem with Zillow not having a certain address so I can't claim it. New construction home. Wish there was something they could do about that!
Katerina reminds of a good point.
Thanks Cheryl.
Whatever your opinion about Zillow you should at the very least claim your listings and upoad past sales ... both easy ways to get free advertising on the top real estate site.
Jay T. from Zillow here. To Katerina's point, we don't use the sales price in Past Sales in calculating the Zestimate. Sales price is public record (with the exception of non-disclosure states), and that public record is the data used as part of the Zestimate calculation.
Cheryl,
I haven't been very good at doing this...so I'm going to have to start.
Rich
Gee, this sounds like a variation on Agent Match where volume gets you the leads. FYI, I thought Agent match was brilliant and I think Errol Samuelson thought so too.
@JoePryor That is a great puppy. That's interesting about Agent Match. Who is Samuelson?
Richard Iarossi I put it on my calendar and just did it one day after I read @RossHair manual for REM Camp.
@JayThompson Thanks for clarification!
@RossHair Thanks for the tip and looking forward to the 30 day REM Webinars!
Andrew Mooers I see value in submitting past sales and listings to communicate longevity and success in the industry for consumers researching which agent to select.
Shannon...See if some of the Zillow commenters on this post will assist.
@Nector and Katerina Jay raises a good point above. I love Real Bird, too.
Roy Kelley Roy, thanks for the reblog.
@KevinMay my thoughts are we may get selected rather than overlooked with this share feature.
Carla, I am seeing a benefit that outweighs a loss with the online consumer shopping habits.
Cindy Edwards added this Trulia tip to my Evernote projects list this week.
Sarah, Ditto!
Sharon...Thanks!
Kathy, I guess I have just come out of the break.
June Piper-Brandon Good tip!
Larry, Do you add you sales and listings to Trulia, too.
John, I have to check out Trulia fir additions, too.
Congratulations on the feature and thank you for the mention!
Great post although I will not give out the sales price of what sold
@@MargaretRome Thanks! I realized I better get off my duff when you wrote the great Featured Sentrilock app post a few days ago!
@LauraFilip Curious why.
What a time-saver! Wow, thank you so mch for sharing all this with us.
Thanks for the information! This will definitely help me and save some time!
You're killing me.
Earlier in the year, I uploaded them all from the prior 14 years. Joy.
It wasn't as bad as you'd think, I could do it as I watched tv (unless I was watching Jeopardy)....but still, I could have used matrix and sent an email.
All right, I'll keep on watching you for other hints you may have .....
Cheryl, this is one exercise I need to work on - thanks for sharing the easy summary.
I feel like I should importstuff within the next month.
Laura Cerrano for a limited time, they will do it for you if you provide the spreadsheet or document. Matrix made this a snap.
Praful Thakkar carve out 30 minutes with MRIS.
Claude Labbe use the easy way for Trulia!
Joy Roussell Margaret Woda time to head over to do this on Trulia, too.
Hi Cheryl,
My Zillow profile says I have two sales in one year and 14 for my entire career... tsk. tsk.. The reader of my profile should wonder I am still in the business.
I am not sure if I am going to this yet. As Katerina said, they will just use it for the Zestimate.
I don't understand Jay T's statement of "We don't use this data in our Zestimates". If it is a disclosure state it should match and they can confirm the sale or know to search for the sale if it is missing.
I wonder how Z can have such screwed up data with all these agents doing their work for them.
I have been posting and adding past and recent sales to Zillow. What I have found to be mind boggling is the fact when you put a property as contingent or pending I have notice Zillow shows it as "off the market" that to me is misleading, I prefer to see what is pending and contingent not assume the listing fell apart......
Jay Thompson Yes, that is how it is today, but that is not cut in stone. Business models change and the pulling of data changes over time. It is not inconceivable that in the future if you get enough agent sales data that you would not pull that into the programming somehow.
This is shocking, your last post was a month ago, You were serious about getting back to work
HEY THERE CHERYL RITCHIE,
thanks for sharing but I am always trulia's biggest fan :)
keep posting!
have a great day!
I guess I need to check and see if my past sales are showing up in Zillow. If not, I now know how to update the information.
I wondered how they did this... very interesting... I am not sure if I think this information is needed but I see Agents who sell very little looking better on Zillow because they must be doing this! Hmmm I will have to think about it thanks for the information
I tried to upload my SOLDS to Zillow. It processed less than half of them. I will run my business without cooperating with Zillow. I have my own property for sale. I will do that wihout Zillow, as well. When possible, I will also AVOID showing properties that are listed by Agents who build their business around Zillow.
